welcome, claire!

On Friday, Dec. 23, after a busy day of getting ready for Christmas, cleaning the house and going on a "last" date with Bob, Claire decided to surprise us by beginning to make her way into the world. It was most certainly a surprise as I'd had an uneventful doctor's appointment that week.

Claire Jane was born at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24 - Christmas Eve! Ironic, because I was adamant she not be born on Christmas. I guess she wanted to be here in time for Santa!

Claire weighed 6 lbs, 13 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. She was born with a head full of dark hair.

Bob's parents were already on their way to celebrate Christmas with us in Nashville when Bob called to tell them I was in labor. My parents hopped out of bed and were out the door in 40 minutes flat to be here in time. My mom was with us in the room when Claire was born and the other three grandparents waited together.

I don't think my dad's smile could get any bigger. He is a proud first-time Grandpa.

Daddy is proud too.

We were happy and healthy...despite the look I'm giving the photographer (Bob) here.

My beautiful baby girl was given a clean bill of health and a pretty Christmas bow in her hair.

We all went home the day after Christmas and celebrated a belated holiday with both sets of grandparents, Uncle Craig, Aunt Danielle and Uncle John.

It was most certainly a Christmas we won't soon forget.

  3. I found your blog through Kelly's Korner. I had a baby girl born December 13th. From the looks of her little hair bow I would say she was born at Baptist. Molly had one of those hairbows too. Claire is so pretty. It's nice to read blogs of other people who live in Middle Tennessee.
